Sustainability without sacrificing health: PET and the circular economy

Sostenibilidad sin renunciar a la salud: PET y economía circular

Can packaging be safe for your health and at the same time responsible for the planet?

At Sevens Nutrition, we believe so. That's why we chose PET: a material that not only protects your well-being but also integrates perfectly into the circular economy.

In this article, we explain why PET is not only a safe option, but also a sustainable one .

What is the circular economy and what does it have to do with your supplements?

The circular economy seeks to minimize waste. Instead of using, throwing away, and polluting, it focuses on reusing, recycling, and transforming .

Sevens PET containers are designed to be part of that cycle.
Are:

  • 100% recyclable

  • Light (less emissions in transport)

  • Efficient in production and reuse

PET: a plastic with a second (and third) life

PET is one of the most recycled plastics in the world . In Europe, more than 80% of PET bottles are recovered for recycling.

Once recycled, it can be converted into:

  • New packaging

  • Textiles (such as polyester fibers)

  • Components for other long-lasting products

And all this without compromising safety or quality.

There is even food-grade recycled PET , certified by EFSA, thanks to advanced decontamination processes.

And how does it compare to glass or metal?

Although both glass and aluminum are recyclable materials, they have significant environmental disadvantages :

  • Glass is very heavy → it generates more CO₂ emissions in transport.

  • Melting glass requires high temperatures and more energy .

  • Aluminum, although recyclable, is very expensive to produce initially and requires internal linings if used as packaging.

PET, on the other hand:

  • It is produced with a lower energy impact.

  • It is transported with fewer emissions.

  • It is easy to recycle, even several times.

  • It burns cleanly if it is recovered for energy (without releasing toxic gases).

What if it is not recycled?

The problem is not the material, but the waste management .
If PET is thrown into the wild, it can take years to degrade. That's why it's essential that you, as a consumer, dispose of it in the appropriate container .

At Sevens we do our part by using only recyclable PET.
And we trust that you will do yours: return it to the cycle so that it continues to be useful.

In short: health + sustainability

PET is our choice because:

  • It is safe for health (no BPA, phthalates or migrations).

  • It is recyclable, light and efficient .

  • It has one of the lowest carbon footprints among packaging.

  • It allows us to protect your supplement without harming the planet.

Closing the series: when packaging also matters

We choose quality ingredients, balanced formulas, and rigorous processes.
Why wouldn't we do the same with packaging?

At Sevens Nutrition, we believe that health begins with every detail.
That's why our packaging also speaks to who we are and what we stand for : science, responsibility, and commitment to you and the environment.
